God Will Always Watch Out For You
Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe. As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, "I know what a beautiful woman you are. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, 'This is his wife.' Then they will kill me but will let you live. Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you." . . .
the Egyptians saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman. And when Pharaoh's officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace. He treated Abram well for her sake . . .
But the LORD inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai. So Pharaoh summoned Abram. . . . "Why did you say 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? . . ."
Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had. Genesis 12:10-20.

Was Abram justified in lying? Did he have to lie knowing that God had his back? There are questions about whether he was even in the will of God when he traveled to Egypt. Did God ask him to go to Egypt or did he set out on his own? These are all questions we grapple with from the passage. It is possible to come up with all kinds of explanations and justifications.
But the truth is: regardless of what our take is on Abraham's behavior, one thing remains unquestionable: God faithfully watched out for Abram and protected him! God knew that Abram's motives were pure but his humanity drove him to lie. God did not write him off. God protected him and inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household. God fought for him.
There are times when we are driven by fear to do things that are not so worthy. Sometimes we find various ways to justify our actions. We are driven by remorse and we wonder whether God will see us through the mess we have created. Our God is very holy. He does not condone sin.
But our God is also so faithful and so loyal that He will never reject us no matter what.
God knows the motives behind each of our actions. The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:10(NLT), "I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. . . ."
Never condemn yourself because of an unrighteous act. Talk to God about the situation. Even though there could be consequent messes as we saw with Abraham, God will come to your aid. God will always watch out for you. He will never abandon you!
