Look Ahead in Hope And Praise God
As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long -- though I know not how to relate them all.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, and yours alone.
Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come. Psalm 71:14-18

One of the greatest facilitators of hope is to reflect over the goodness of God upon our lives over the years. The Psalmist underscores this by saying that he will always have hope because of God's righteous deeds. He is so grateful to God and confident of God's continued faithfulness that he is actually asking God to watch over him till he is old and gray so that he can declare the mighty acts of God to the next generation!
Many times, we simply come asking for things from God without pausing to reflect and thank Him for His past faithfulness to us. In fact, I am convinced that in the future, we wouldn't have as much anxiety if we pause to give thanks to God for all His wonderful deeds in our lives.
Can you imagine how God would feel about us if, like the Psalmist, we asked Him for long life just so that we can live to tell future generations of His goodness?
Look ahead with hope and praise God for He is good and His mercies endure forever.

Prayer: Lord, I pause today to express deep gratitude for your goodness to me. Truly, your mercies are new every morning and great is your faithfulness. May my heart continually rejoice and praise you. Amen
