When What Is Vile is Honored
Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore;
Those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
Everyone lies to their neighbor;
They flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts…
You LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked,
Who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.

Hardly a week goes by these days without someone commenting to me about how terrible society has become! Long-held social norms are fast becoming a thing of the past. The line between right and wrong is being increasingly blurred. It seems as if everything is in a downward spiral and virtually nothing seems to be sacred anymore. Almost anything that one strongly believes in can be fought for in the courts and established as legal and moral precedents; regardless of their effects on society as a whole! David summarizes it this way: ”. . . vile is honored by the human race.”
David laments the fact that ,“ those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. Everyone lies to his neighbor . . .”
Even though David wrote these words thousands of years ago, it seems to be a replica of the prevailing conditions in society today. But, the good news is: David does not leave us without hope. He leaves us with the promise that God will protect the needy from the wicked. That is a divine assurance!
So are you worried that what is vile is being honored in society? Well, continue to pursue righteousness and live with the expectation that when what is vile is honored by the human race, God will always protect the righteous.
Ultimately, God’s righteous standards will prevail because life without God is a hopeless end!
In the end, God will usher in His kingdom!

Prayer: Father, please give me the grace to keep living uprightly in spite of the fact that the moral standards of society leave so much distaste. Help me to honor you in all I do and never to honor what is vile. Amen
