A Human Agent For A Divine Assignment

Now Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, "We are setting out for the place about which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel."
He answered, "No, I will not go; I am going back to my own land and my own people."
But Moses said, "Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us."
So they set out from the mountain of the LORD and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest.  Numbers 10:29-33
There is no question that God was the one ultimately leading the Israelites as they journeyed through the desert. Nonetheless, Moses saw the need to secure the help of Hobab, his brother-in-law. Moses had a rather persuasive plea: "Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us." It appears Hobab was convinced and went with the Israelites.

The right "human help agents" are always crucial to the implementation of every divine vision.
God knew that Hobab could serve in very practical ways as the "eyes" of Israel in the desert so he sent him to Moses. God had already used Hobab's father to advise Moses on how to organize the people and reduce his leadership burden. As a visionary, Moses immediately recognized the immense value of Hobab and persuaded him to go with them. He was also rather smart in promising to share whatever blessings they received with Hobab.

As we execute God's plans, dreams, assignments, and vision for our lives, it is crucial to recognize the Hobabs who can serve as "our eyes" and help us in the journey.
Hobabs are critical to the journey and it is important that we share the blessings of God with them as well. We must learn to appreciate and take care of them.

May the LORD bring you Hobabs who can serve as your eyes on the journey to fulfill your destiny. The Hobabs of life serve as critical human agents for divine assignments.
May you recognize the Hobabs in your life. They are your eyes in the desert!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the Hobabs I have encountered in life. I pray that as I journey on, you will bring me godly Hobabs to help me along the way. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
