May God Turn Your Wailing Into Dancing

To you, LORD, I called;
To the Lord I cried for mercy:
“What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
10 Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me;
LORD, be my help.
You turned my wailing into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
That my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
LORD, my God, I will praise you forever.
Psalm 30:8-12 (NIV).

In his distress, David seems to be having a very frank talk with God: “What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?”
We see a glimpse into the relationship David has with God. God called David “a man after His own heart” and it is evident that David seems to be chatting with God as an intimate friend.
God is holy, righteous, awesome and seated majestically on His throne. The Bible describes God as “the King of glory.” Isaiah 40:2 tells us that, “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy to live in.”
In spite of His awesome nature, however, David’s chat with God in this Psalm is a reminder that God is approachable when we have a loving relationship with Him. We can plead our case before Him in earnestness. Like David, we can say, “What is gained if I am silenced, If I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you?” We can press our case before God and ask Him to intervene!
May God turn your wailing into dancing as you cry out to Him. May you praise God forever!

TODAY'S PRAYER
Father, I thank you that you take no delight in my going down the pit. Please hear my cry and turn my situation around. Turn my wailing into dancing so that I may praise you forever. Amen.
