God Owns It All

The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it.  The world and all its people belong to Him.
For He laid the earth's foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.
Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place?
Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
They will receive the LORD's blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior.
(Psalm 24:1-5 NLT).

God owns every conceivable thing in the world. He made it all and He owns it all. All the people in the world belong to him. Nothing falls outside God's possession. Everything we think we "own" as humans actually comes to us on loan from God who is the real owner of it all.

As I reflect over these sobering truths, I am struck by the fact that God, the owner of everything,  is so magnanimous that He allows us to have so much control of the things that belong to Him. He allows us to possess so much to the point where we actually forget that we are accountable to Him as the true owner of everything. God is a generous giver.

But beyond God allowing us to "own" some of His vast possessions, the focus of the Psalmist is on those who move beyond owning "stuff" to having a relationship with God on His Mountain and in His Holy Place. That requires purity of heart, not worshipping idols (the "stuff' that so quickly controls us), and truthful living.
Those who move from "stuff" to relationship are the ones who "will receive the LORD's blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior."

Child of God, your Father owns every conceivable thing you need and He will provide for you. But beyond the provision of  "stuff" is His intense desire that you cultivate a right and a blessed relationship with Him. His promise is that if we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, then all the other things we need will be added unto us!
So move from "stuff" to relationship today.

Prayer: Father, how gratifying it is to know that beyond the material things you give is an intense desire in your heart to have a blessed relationship with me. Please help me to thirst after you as deep calls to deep from your heart to mine. Amen.
