God Will Uphold You

“….I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
“All who rage against you will surely be disgraced. Those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, “your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth.”Isaiah 41:9-15

The world is full of strife, fear, violence and uncertainty. Many live in war-torn zones. Millions are cooped up in refugee camps around the world either because of war or devastating natural disasters. In some places, a very normal day could suddenly be overturned by a suicide bomber. In other places, a gunman could suddenly intrude into a school or place of business and instantly kill and maim many lives, So how do we have peace amidst the raging turmoil?
God gives us a very soothing assurance: “Do not fear for I am with you...I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
There are many things in life that can make us fearful: the uncertainty of our job situations; a spouse who threatens to leave us and our children; a sick child whose future seems uncertain; a much loved ailing parent; a seemingly unmotivated child whose future survival we worry about, a business or venture into which we have invested much resources but which seems no to be taking off, an impending exam; an important presentation at work; a state of unemployment with mounting bills, a situation of discrimination and severe opposition...the list is endless.
But amidst all the fear and uncertainty comes the voice of our Shepherd: “All who rage against you will surely be disgraced...though you search for your enemies, you will not find them...for I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear, I will help you, do not be afraid.”
It does not get any better than that! God’s assurance of protection is enough to calm our fears regardless of the circumstances around us. The Lord is our shepherd and He is with us even through the valley of the shadow of death. Don't be afraid; God will uphold you.
