Are You Ready To Receive?
As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven.
Elisha saw it and cried out, "My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!"
And as they disappeared from sight, Elisha tore his clothes in distress.
Elisha picked up Elijah's cloak which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River. He struck the water with Elijah's cloak and cried out, "Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" Then the river divided, and Elisha went across.
When the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance what happened, they exclaimed, "Elijah's spirit rests upon Elisha!" And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him. 2 Kings 2:11-15

It is one thing to desire something from God but quite another thing to be focused and patient enough to recognize and seize the moment and opportunity when it presents itself. Elisha had clearly been told by Elijah that he would only inherit a double portion of his spirit if he saw him at the moment he was to be whisked off to heaven; if not, then the request would not be granted.
Elisha was doggedly determined and he did see the moment. He saw the moment when the chariots of fire and horses of fire rendered the heavens for a split second to take Elijah away. It was a moment he was determined not to miss. His whole ministry and destiny rested on that crucial moment. Elisha was ready to receive and he did receive his request. If Elisha had allowed anything to distract him he would have missed the moment to receive. Elisha saw the moment and cried out in acknowledgment, "My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!" My father! I see the moment and opportunity I have been waiting for!
So, are you really ready to receive what you are asking from God? If you are, then cleanse yourself from every form of weight and distraction so that you can sharpen your focus and concentration. God might visit in a sudden and unexpected manner and you might miss that moment of blessing and visitation if you are not focused on Him. Prepare for your moment of divine visitation by remaining doggedly focused through the enablement of God's Spirit.
Don't just ask for God to bless you. Ask Him to help you see when the blessing is released so you can rise up and seize it with both hands. Your moment could be just around the corner or it could even be staring you right in the face.
