The Lord Is My Mighty Warrior
I hear many whispering, "Terror on every side! Denounce him! Let's denounce him!"
All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying, "Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him."
But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fall and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten.
LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for to you, LORD, I have committed my cause.
Sing to the LORD! Give praise to the LORD! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked. Jeremiah 20:10-13

The prophet Jeremiah had a very difficult assignment from the LORD. God called him to "Stand against the whole land -- against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land." But Jeremiah was assured of Divine Presence and protection. God assured him that even though the people would fight against him, they would not prevail because He, God, would rescue him.
That was the source of Jeremiah's confidence. So, in spite of all the attacks on him, Jeremiah could confidently assert that even though "All my friends are waiting for me to slip saying. . . we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him," they will not succeed.
Why was Jeremiah so confident of victory over his enemies? The reason is simple: Jeremiah had heard the assuring voice of God that his enemies would be defeated. Jeremiah spoke out the divine assurance from God and boldly proclaimed, "The LORD is with me like a mighty warrior so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail."
Jeremiah committed his cause and gave praise to the LORD, who rescues the needy from the hands of the wicked.
Question: Do you find yourself in an intensive battle because of what God has blessed you with or the assignment he has entrusted to you? Are people denouncing you and waiting for you to fall so that they can pounce on you and take revenge? Well, welcome to the club of the called!
The truth is that the blessings and the assignment God has for you are bound to attract many enemies -- spiritual and physical! It is rather naive to think that you will have no opposition or foes when you strive to become all that God has called you to be! Your calling will attract vicious opposition! There are people who are waiting for you to fall so they can pounce on you!
But listen: The LORD is with you like a Mighty Warrior. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
God will rescue you from your detractors. The battle is the LORD's. Commit your cause to him.
Don't be afraid! The LORD is with you like a Mighty Warrior! Praise Him for your victory!
