Don't Allow The Enemy To Distract And Harm You.
When word came to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall and not a gap was left in it -- though up to that time I had not set the doors in the gates -- Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: "Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono."
But they were scheming to harm me; so I sent messengers to them with this reply: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?" Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer." Nehemiah 6:1-4

The goal of every adversary is to distract and harm his opponent. The enemy would stop at nothing until he succeeds in stealing, killing and destroying the vision God has entrusted to you. That is his avowed goal, and that has always been a winning strategy for him. He attacks relentlessly with all kinds of distractions to take our minds off our God-given mission. This attack usually becomes even more intensified, the closer we get to accomplishing our goal. Once we give in to a single distraction, we become easy prey for him and he can completely destroy our vision.
Nehemiah was no exception to the enemy's tactics. Four times, Sanballat and Geshem tried to get him away from the project under the pretext of an amicable meeting, but Nehemiah saw through their scheming and simply replied: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down." Nehemiah saw through their evil plans of trying to distract and harm him and he used godly wisdom to handle the situation. He did not walk into the plot of the enemy. He did not argue with them. He respectfully gave them the same response: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down." Jesus handled the devil with the same divine strategy when He responded during His temptation: "It is written; It is written; It is written!"
As you pursue your dreams and visions, be mindful of the distracting tactics of the enemy. Don't be ignorant of his devices. His ultimate goal is to distract you from your divine agenda and harm you. The enemy has nothing good to offer you. Don't listen to him; don't go into meetings with him no matter how attractive the agenda he presents might look. Simply respond relentlessly: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down." That is a tested winning response. Don't allow the enemy to distract and harm you and your God-given vision.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to discern every move and tactic of the enemy so that I will not fall prey to his schemes. Amen.
