Our Future Is Exciting

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who His children really are.
Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay.
. . . And we Believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as His adopted children, including the new bodies He has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved.  Romans 8:18-24 (NLT)

So how often do you think about Heaven? How often do you think about the return of Jesus? How often do you think about the glorious body God has in store for you at the "end of time"?

Amidst all the busyness of our daily existence, we seldom make time to think about our future with Jesus. But it is certainly worth thinking about. The world we live in is infested with so much evil and cruelty. The greed of humanity has ravaged creation irreparably. Nations are destroyed just to acquire the resources needed to maintain the wealth and lifestyle of the rich and powerful.

Wars are fought resulting in the death of hundreds of thousands because of the struggle to maintain political power. Sicknesses and diseases are rapidly increasing because of the very environment we live in and the water we drink is polluted. Creation itself is under attack. The forests, the rivers, the mountains, lands, innocent animals are all feeling the pain of man's greed and insatiable propensity for more material things. Elephants are poached for their ivory and rare species are killed to satisfy the human ego. So, the Bible is right! Creation itself is groaning under the stress of human greed. Creation itself is looking forward to the day of redemption by God.

The Bible addresses the human situation as well: "And we Believers also groan . . . for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as His adopted children, including the new body He has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved."

So, the pain, stress, challenges, difficulties, injustices, inequities, lack, abuse, powerlessness, sicknesses and diseases that we face as part of this sin-infested world will come to an end one day. There is a day of redemption coming when our mortal bodies will be replaced with immortal ones. There is a day coming when our bodies will no longer be ravaged by sickness and disease. There is a day coming when we will no longer be the victims of greed.

Are you looking forward to that day of redemption? Our groaning will all come to an end one day when our Lord and Saviour Jesus brings our final redemption. We have an exciting future!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the exciting future I have with you. Amen.
