A Glimpse Into The Spirit World
When he arrived, the king asked him, "Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall we not?"
. . . Then Micaiah answered, "I saw all Israel scattered on the hill like sheep without a shepherd," . . .
Micaiah continued, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing on His right and on His left. And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' "One suggested this, and another that. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.'
" 'By what means?' the LORD asked. " 'I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. " 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'
"So now the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."
Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face.
. . . The king of Israel then ordered, "Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king's son, and say, 'This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.' "
Micaiah declared, "If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me." Then he added, "Mark my words . . . " 2 Chronicles 18:14-27

We are not privy to all the happenings in the spirit realm except the little that God graciously reveals to us. The Bible makes it clear that, "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law." (Deuteronomy 29:29). Paul echoes this when he talks about his spiritual experience when he, ". . . was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell." (2 Cor. 12:4) The Book of Job also gives us a rare glimpse into the heavenlies where we hear a conversation between God and Satan and catch a glimpse of Satan's tireless efforts to destroy righteous Job.
The truth is: There is so much happening in the spirit realm which can be destructive to our well-being on earth. When we rebel against God's word, we open ourselves up to all kinds of influences and attacks from the camp of the enemy because as Scripture clearly teaches, we do have an adversary whose sole aim is to devour and destroy. We can't be ignorant of that.
Ahab rebelled against God and caused Israel to live in idolatry. This made him liable to destruction and invited lying spirits to entice him into destruction. Rebellion against God has all kinds of spiritual repercussions. Samuel reminded King Saul that,"rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft." (1 Samuel 15:23, NKJV). Godlessness opens us up to incalculable spiritual damage.
Our surest and safest option as God's children is simply to love Jesus sincerely and follow God's word with all our hearts. We don't have to be ignorant of the happenings in the heavenlies, but we certainly do not have to be afraid, even if we see the revelations. Walking with God in obedience ensures that no spirit from the camp of the enemy will succeed in enticing and deceiving us unto the path of destruction. Obedience is a powerful bulwark against the enemy. Rebellion creates an open door for the enemy.
May your life be so wrapped up in obedience that no deceiving spirit from the enemy can ever entice you into destruction!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the power of your word and your Spirit. Please help me to live in the Spirit and in the word so that the enemy will have no foothold into my life. Amen.
