Fight For Your Destiny

Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord's battles. Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.    I Timothy 1:18-19 (NLT)

There always has to be a personal motivating factor to spur us on as individuals, and even families, churches, and nations to battle for our destinies. Without that, life becomes lackluster and there is no real impetus to fight for any satisfying cause or life-changing agenda. This applies to Christians and non-Christians alike because of God's general grace toward all humanity. The advantage we have as Christians is that the Holy Spirit gives us divine power to accomplish things to glorify God. The Spirit of God personally speaks to us.

God has wired all His children in such a way that when we have an internal conviction to pursue a worthwhile cause, we simply become unstoppable. That is the secret to many accomplishments in business, the sciences, arts, politics, religion, medicine, education, industry and numerous other fields of human endeavor.

We know from 2 Timothy 1:7 that Timothy was a bit of a timid person and Paul had to remind him that God had not given him a spirit of fear but rather one of power. So,  Paul was simply reminding Timothy to recall the prophetic words spoken about him earlier in his ministry and allow that to spur him on to wage a good fight. God had obviously given Timothy a clear destiny to accomplish and Paul was reminding him that recalling the encouragement of the specific prophecies given over his life in connection with his destiny would be of tremendous help to motivate him to fight well. Paul also reminded Timothy that those battles concerning his destiny were ultimately the Lord's battles. He would fight successfully by clinging to his faith in Christ and keeping a clear conscience.

I am convinced that somewhere along our journey with God, we each heard a heart-warming prompting about something God was calling us to do. I am convinced that we each have had our own "prophetic words" spoken into our souls by the Spirit of God. It might have been public or non-public. But if we search our souls, we would each realize that God has spoken to us about something that He wants us to passionately pursue. My conviction is based on the fact that God has given each of us gifts and talents that are meant to be activated to accomplish some laudable things to benefit many people.

So, I want to encourage you to quietly search and recall that moment when you heard that "prophetic word" and let it galvanize you into action. That passion could be the very basis of some incredible things that you are yet to do to benefit God's Kingdom and touch many lives. It is never too late. Moses started off on his destiny at the age of eighty after he had been wandering in the back side of the desert for forty years. God gave him a prophetic word in the burning bush and he changed the entire course of history for God's people.
So, RISE up, recall your powerful moment of prophetic word and let it spur you on to things that will exceed your expectations. Get rid of all naysayers and destiny busters from your life and focus on strengthening your faith in Christ and what the Holy Spirit has deposited in you. Keep a good conscience and your accomplishments in the very near future will only leave many imagining how it all came to be!

Prayer: Father, I ask in the mighty Name of Jesus that my giftings will all be activated by the power of your Spirit so that I can reach my full potential and destiny for your glory. Amen.
