When You Please God, He Will Fight For You.

Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God. He removed the foreign altars and the high places . . .
He commanded Judah to seek the LORD . . . and to obey His laws and commands.  He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him. He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace under him.  . . . No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest.
. . . Zerah the Cushite marched out against them with an army of thousands upon thousands and three hundred chariots.
. . . Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, "LORD, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your Name we have come against this vast army. LORD, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against You."
The LORD struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah.  . . . Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were crushed before the LORD and His forces. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder.  . . .They also attacked the camps of the herders and carried off droves of sheep and goats and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.   2 Chronicles 14:1-15
I often wonder what our reactions will be when we get to Heaven and see a "video" of our lives on earth. I wonder what our reactions will be when we see the unnecessary pain we brought on ourselves because we refused to acknowledge God and allow Him to help us lead our lives.

Can you imagine all the peace we forfeit because we walk away from God and refuse to acknowledge Him in our lives? Can you imagine all the havoc the enemy brings upon us simply because God's laws and statutes mean nothing to us? God is willing to fight every battle for us but sadly, we reject His Presence and opt to depend on ourselves. We create all kinds of "gods" to depend on and in the process we wreck our lives.

King Asa saw the cost of rejecting God. He knew Israel was in turmoil because they had turned their backs on God. He did the only right thing and brought the nation into repentance: "He commanded Judah to seek the LORD . . . and to obey His commands." As a result, God brought peace and rest to the nation and no one was at war with him.

When Zerah the Cushite marched against Israel with an army of thousands upon thousands, Asa confidently called upon the LORD because He knew he was in right standing with God. His cry was: "LORD, You are our God, do not let mere mortals prevail against You." God devastated the Cushites and gave great plunder to Asa and Judah. The Bible says the Cushites were "crushed before the LORD and His forces." That is a very telling statement.

You see: When you please God, God will fight for you. When you please God, your adversary becomes God's adversary and God takes over "your fighting forces." The Enemy no longer faces "your fighting forces" but God's "fighting forces." The battle is no longer yours, but the LORD'S. God leads you in battle and mere mortals can never prevail against God. Are you truly living for God? Then never be afraid of any adversary because God will fight every battle for you. You are the apple of God's eye. When you please God, He will fight for you.

Prayer: Father, Asa trusted completely in you and you gave him rest and peace. When the enemy attacked he called confidently on you because he knew the battle was yours; not his. My trust is in you alone. I am confident that nothing the enemy brings against me will prevail. Amen.
