Our Awesome God
"Dominion and awe belong to God;
He establishes order in the heights of heaven.
Can His forces be numbered?
On whom does His light not rise?
How then can a mortal be righteous before God?
How can one born of woman be pure?
If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in His eyes, how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot -- a human being who is only a worm! (Job 25)

God is utterly awesome. He is full of awe and dominion.
The heavens operate under His divine order and command; they take instructions from Him.
His heavenly hosts are numberless; His power is all-encompassing.
He graciously enables all humans to taste the beauty of the sun and the moon without discrimination. God is so pure that even the light of the moon and the stars are impure in His eyes.
In light of God's awesomeness and purity, the purity of humans can only be likened to that of a worm or maggot. How then can humans claim any form of righteousness before God?
Given the wickedness of the human heart, it is utterly impossible to claim any form of righteousness before God.
It is interesting that when the Prophet Isaiah had a vision of God, he uttered these words: "Woe to me!... I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty." (Isaiah 6:5) Isaiah was confronted with his utter unrighteousness in light of God's absolute holiness and righteousness. But God allowed an angel to touch Isaiah's lips with coal from the altar in heaven and Isaiah was cleansed and given a divine assignment.
Given our natural state, we are utterly unclean and undeserving of being in the presence of God. But God has cleansed us with the precious Blood of Jesus. God has also allowed His Holy Spirit to dwell in us. We have become His children and have been given the privilege to dwell in His presence. So, unlike the moon and stars, we shine with purity before God. This should cause us to worship this awesome God with every ounce of our being. Would you pause and give God some worship, right this moment. God is simply awesome!
