This Is An Easy Thing In the Eyes of The LORD

Now Mesha, the king of Moab raised sheep, and he had to pay the king of Israel a tribute of a hundred thousand lambs and the wool of a hundred thousand rams. But after Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. So at that time King Joram set out from Samaria and mobilized all Israel. He also sent this message to Jehoshaphat king of Judah:  "The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?"
"I will go with you," he replied…"By what route shall we attack?" he asked. "Through the desert of Edom."
. . . So the king of Israel set out with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. After a roundabout march of seven days, the army had no more water for themselves or for the animals with them.
"What!" exclaimed the king of Israel. "Has the LORD called us three kings together only to deliver us into the hands of Moab?"
But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, through whom we may inquire of the LORD?" An officer of the king answered, "Elisha, son of Shaphat is here."
. . . Jehoshaphat said, "The word of the LORD is with him." So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
Elisha said to the king of Israel, "Why do you want to involve me? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother."  . . . "As surely as the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not pay any attention to you. But now bring me a harpist."
While the harpist was playing, the hand of the LORD came on Elisha and he said, "This is what the LORD says: I will fill this valley with pools of water.  . . . You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD; He will also deliver Moab into your hands."
. . . The next morning, about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was -- water flowing from the direction of Edom! And the land was filled with water. 2 Kings 3:4-20
Three kings with their fighting forces and war supplies, including their cattle and other animals on which they were going to depend for food, were trapped in a desert with no water to drink. They were facing certain death from dehydration. Only a miracle could save them. Elisha, the prophet of God, was rather reluctant to help them because King Joram, like his father Ahab, was a godless king. But, graciously, Elisha decided to help them because of his respect for the God-fearing king of Judah, Jehoshaphat.

In accordance with his prophetic word, God filled the valley with pools of water, without a drop of rain falling from the sky. God just did it and promised them victory in battle as well!

A few days ago, I was driving home when the Spirit of God reminded me of a very basic truth: "God's children must believe His word." It had quite a profound effect on me. The message was clear: I must believe the word of God with passion and expect every word God has spoken in connection with His plans and purposes for me to be fulfilled. That simple word was life-changing for me. I have always believed and preached God's word and seen Him answer prayers and fulfill His word. But that particular simple message was meant to drive my faith deeper into new depths, given my current spiritual state and what God is up to in my life.

Child of God, I do not know what you are facing in your life. But there is one assurance I can give you: God's word is true. Believe it. We just heard the word of God from the lips of Elisha, "I will fill this valley with pools of water.   . . . You will see neither wind nor rain yet this valley will be filled with water . . . This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD."

God watched over His word and miraculously brought water into a total desert! Your situation is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD. God still saves; God still heals; God still provides; God still delivers.  God has not changed! Stand firm and believe His word. You will be victorious. May God fill whatever desert you might be facing today with valleys of water and may he give you victory in whatever battle you face today.

Prayer: Lord, please help my unbelief because you are more than able to turn my situation around. Amen.
