Are You Fighting The Good Fight?

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day -- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.    2 Timothy 4:6-8
The length of our days are not known to any of us. No one knows when they will breathe their last. But one thing is certain: one day everyone will take their last breath and this mortal and corrupt body will make way for an immortal and incorruptible body.

The apostle Paul was very close to the end of his life as he wrote to Timothy: "The time of my departure is near."  Paul knew that his life was about to end. As he looked back over his life, how would he describe his life-journey? Better still if you and I look over our lives, how would we describe the way we conducted ourselves as Christians? Paul was confident and certain that his life had made a discernible difference in the Kingdom of God and he did not shy away from proclaiming it. He confidently asserted: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

So question: If God were to call you home today, would you be prepared enough to say you have fought the good fight? Can you confidently say to Jesus that you have finished the race? Can you say like Paul that you have kept the faith? Would you be comfortable enough to declare that you are eager to receive your crown of righteousness from Jesus?

May we so live our lives that we can say without hesitation that we have fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. Amen!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the wonderful privilege of being your child. Please help me to so live my life that I will have no regrets when you call me home. Like Paul, let my life end with full confidence that: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith." Amen.
