The LORD Will Perfect That Which Concerns You
The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your Hands. Psalm 138:8
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your Hands. Psalm 138:8
This is a message that grips my heart because I have every reason to believe that the LORD desires to perfect that which concerns His children.
God created a perfect world which was subsequently marred by sin. But He sent Jesus His Perfect Son to redeem us and set us back on the path of perfection. God desires that our lives will be perfected to bring honor to His name. That is why David prayed that prayer: “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me.” God specializes in perfecting broken lives; God specializes in perfecting flawed lives. The Bible tells us that Jesus came not for the whole, but for the sick. Jesus came to perfect the imperfect. He came to restore the Broken.
All through Scripture, we see numerous examples of flawed lives that were perfected through the gracious touch of God.
The Bible tells the story of the woman at the well in John 4. She was a woman who lived in shame. She had had five husbands and was living with a man to whom she was not married. Her lifestyle was scandalous. She was so ashamed of herself that she did everything to avoid being seen in public. She would only come out to fetch water at the well when the likelihood of people being there was slim. But, one day, she had an encounter with Jesus.
She found Jesus waiting at the well and the ensuing conversation changed the entire trajectory of her life! Jesus lovingly confronted her with her sinful and flawed lifestyle. The woman was shocked and she acknowledged that Jesus was no ordinary person. Jesus was gentle and kind and gave her the living water of God’s word. Her life was immediately transformed. She went into the city and invited others to come and see a man who washed away her sins and her shame. Jesus perfected that which concerned her life. Her shame was replaced with joy and a new sense of purpose.
Regardless of what areas of your life you might be ashamed of or struggling with, receive the assurance today that God is desirous of perfecting that which concerns you.
May God perfect all that concerns your life.
May God perfect that which concerns your home, marriage, family, children, finances, relationships, career, job, ministry, and spiritual walk.
