It’s All About The Heart

The LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way, I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king...Samuel did what the LORD said...Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed stands here before the LORD.” But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart.”
I Samuel 16:1-7
It’s all about the heart! It’s all about the heart! It’s all about the heart!

Two things:
First: Be careful how you judge others because God sees what you and I do not see. We only see what is visible by way of outward appearance. But God sees beyond the visible; God sees the heart! It’s all about the heart! Sometimes we slander, discount people and write them off because of how we perceive them or their situations. In his time of trial, Job’s situation was so deplorable that friends wrote him off as a sinful person.  Even his wife asked him to curse God and die. But God knew his heart. God knew that he was a righteous man whose blessings were soon to be doubled. People wrote him off but God knew his heart and caused Job’s latter end to be more glorious than his beginning.

Second: Take a moment every day to search your heart and your motives. The condition of your heart is what matters most to God. Let the prayer of David be on your lips daily, “Search me  O God and know my heart;  try me and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” When our heart is upright, there is no telling what God will do with us.

It’s all about the heart! It’s all about the heart! Its all about the heart!

Prayer: Father, it’s all about the heart. I ask that you point out every form of ungodliness and wickedness in me. Please give me the humility to accept them and repent from them. I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
