Who Can Stand Before The LORD Almighty?
After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. Then they carried the ark into Dagon’s temple. And set it beside Dagon.
When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen flat on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained...The LORD’s hand was heavy upon the people of Ashdod; He brought devastation on them and afflicted them with tumors.
When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the god of Israel must not stay here with us because His hand is heavy on us and on Dagon our god. I Samuel 5:1-7

As a result of the sin of Eli’s household and the nation as a whole, the arch enemies of Israel, the Philistines, defeated Israel In battle. Eli, the priest, and his two sons all died on the same day. The Philistines then took the ark of God and placed it next to their god, Dagon, in his temple! The God of Israel had been captured and put on display next to the god of the Philistines. This was meant to demonstrate that Dagon was superior to the God of Israel.
But Yahweh is without equal. The power of God was manifested and Dagon fell flat before the ark of God. The next day, Dagon was set upright again by the hands of the Philistines. But our God needs no human help. Our Almighty God demonstrated the superiority of His power by causing Dagon not only to fall flat before the ark of God in a position of worship; but also his head and hands were broken off! This signified that the God of the Philistines had been completely defeated! His broken head and hands were the trophies of war. In a further demonstration of His power, God brought devastation on the Philistines and afflicted them with tumors.
So, who can stand before the Lord God Almighty? God Himself declares in Isaiah 28: “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?”
We serve an all powerful God before whom no other power or demonic spirit can stand. The Bible declares in Isaiah 54 that, “whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.”
May God cause every “Dagon” that comes against your life to fall down and be decapitated because of the power of God upon your life. May God demonstrate His power on your behalf against any adversary from the camp of the enemy! So, who can stand before the LORD God Almighty? No one! Absolutely no one. Our God is without equal! He is far superior!
