You Have Divine Protection

Then the High Priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.” (Acts 5:17-20)
The disciples were focused on spreading the Gospel as Jesus had commanded them to. In fulfillment of His promise, Jesus attested to the apostles preaching with signs, wonders, miracles and all kinds of healings. As crowds were being saved and the apostles gained prominence, the religious authorities became jealous. They used every power at their means, including jailing, to discourage the apostles. But God protected them by miraculously sending an angel to release them from the jail. The angel instructed them to keep on preaching.
Jealousy, in many ways, underlie many attacks against genuine children of God. It is a subject that is quietly ignored but a reality nonetheless. When you purposefully serve God, He will use you. But you must also brace yourself against attacks by jealous people. You might not be put in a physical jail; but you might find yourself in “the jail of slander, gossip, animosity, discouragement and various unpleasant and discouraging attacks.” All this is instigated by Satan to discourage you to the point of giving up. But don’t throw in the towel. You have divine protection.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. The same God whose angel delivered the apostles from jail, will also deliver you from whatever jail your detractors might seek to put you in. Don’t give up. Keep serving. Keep preaching. Keep helping. Keep giving. Keep teaching. Keep praying. Keep leading. Keep singing. Keep ushering. Look only unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith. He is your protector and vindicator.
Don’t be afraid. You have divine protection.

Prayer: Lord, I entrust myself completely into your care. You are my protector and vindicator.
Help me not to be discouraged by whatever attacks I might face as I serve you but to boldly depend on your assured protection. Thank you Father, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
