Take Up Your Divine Assignment

After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua, son of Nun, Moses ' aide: Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give them – to the Israelites (Joshua 1:1-2).
After the death of Moses, Joshua was called upon by God to lead Israel to inherit the Promised Land. I can imagine how frightening it must have been for Joshua. Moses was a revered leader who had a very close relationship with God. Could Joshua successfully fill his shoes? Joshua must have felt very inadequate. But Joshua was God's man for the hour. What God was asking him to do, had been ordained from eternity. It was already written in God's Book.
There are times when it seems as if we have suddenly been thrust into a role we seem totally unprepared for. But wait: nothing happens to a child of God by chance because the Bible makes it clear that "all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. " (Psalm 139:16).
So do you find yourself filling a vacuum you would rather not step into? Do you find yourself terrified because circumstances have left you as a single parent? Have you suddenly been promoted only to realize that you are frightened by your new responsibilities? Has God given you a new leadership role in His Church? Is there something God is stirring in your heart to do?
Well, none of this is a surprise to God. He has your name on the assignment.
Don't be afraid. Step into your divine assignment. You will succeed. God is with you.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for my role and my responsibilities. I feel pretty inadequate but I stand upon your word in Philippians 4:13 that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." By your grace, I will successfully undertake everything you entrust to me. Amen.
