The Giant Will Fall

As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead.  The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.
Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines.  . . .
When the Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp. David took the Philistine’s head and brought it to Jerusalem, he put the Philistine’s weapons in his own tent.  I Samuel 17:48-54.

For forty days, Goliath shouted at the armies of Israel and defied the Almighty God. But one young boy, David, dared to believe that there was a God in Israel who could fight for His people. So David stepped out in faith to face Goliath. David was certain of victory because he believed that the battle was the LORD’s and not his! He placed his full confidence in God and he was not disappointed. The Giant fell because God was with David. The battle had already been won. All God needed was a David through whom He could manifest that victory on earth.

Are you facing a giant in your life? Is it making you feel hopeless? Don’t lose hope. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. The same God who gave that stunning victory to David will fight for you. Just get your smooth pebbles and sling ready. With one shot, the giant will fall at the appointed time. The end of your story is victory, not defeat. Don’t give up. The LORD is with you. The giant will fall. God has already won the battle. Even if the situation seems daunting, gird up your loins and press on. With God on your side, the giant is bound to fall!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you that the giants I face are already defeated because the battle is yours and not mine. Amen.
