Life Without God Is a Hopeless End

"Can papyrus reeds grow tall without a marsh?
Can marsh grass flourish without water?
While they are still flowering, not ready to be cut, they begin to wither more quickly than grass.
The same happens to all who forget God.
The hopes of the godless evaporate.
Their confidence hangs by a thread.
They are leaning on a spider's web.
They cling to their home for security, but it won't last. . .
The godless seem like a lush plant growing in the sunshine,
Its branches spreading across the garden.
Its roots grow down through a pile of stones;
It takes hold on a bed of rocks, but when it's uprooted, it's as though it never existed!
That's the end of its life, and others spring up from the earth to replace it.
But look, God will not reject a person of integrity. . .
He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
Those who hate you will be clothed with shame,
And the home of the wicked will be destroyed." Job 8:11-22
The Bible does not argue for the existence of God. It simply assumes God's existence because God simply is. (Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God. . ." ). We are simply introduced to the Almighty Creator. He is without beginning and without end. The Bible also makes it clear that humans were created by God and it is foolish for us to argue that there is no God (Psalm 14:1).
The Bible also makes it clear that the vast and awesome universe gives us enough evidence to know and acknowledge the existence of God (Romans 1:20). We cannot deny the existence of God! We have to accept God by faith! God is!

It is unthinkable that we can live truly meaningful, joyful, and impactful lives to the fullest without God as our foundation and point of reference. In the end, a life lived without God proves futile, no matter how much fame or stuff we acquire! As someone so eloquently put it, "there is a God-shaped vacuum in man which can only be filled by God."

This passage in Job likens a godless person to one whose confidence hangs by a thread. The godless are leaning on a spider's web for security. They simply do not have the right ingredients for life because the right ingredients are only found in the God who created us. Their end is hopeless because life without God is a hopeless end. We have no hope after death.

On the other hand, a person of integrity who trusts in God has an endless hope! There is a divine assurance that no matter how devastating things might be, there is laughter and hope ahead. God will fill the mouth of the righteous with hope and laughter again because, in the end, God always wins! Life without God is a hopeless end, but life with God is an endless hope!
Put your hope in God and not in your intellect, education, or riches.

Prayer: O Lord, please help me to trust you fervently and live to please you. Amen.
