Trouble Will Not Come a Second Time
The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in Him
But with an overwhelming flood He will make an end of Nineveh;
He will pursue His foes into the realm of darkness.
Whatever they plot against the LORD He will bring to an end;
Trouble will not come a second time (Nahum 1:7-9).

The city of Nineveh represented the Assyrian Empire. This Empire captured the northern part of Israel and subjected the people to extreme brutality including torture and mutilation. The people of Judah who lived in the southern part of the land of Israel felt threatened and afraid. Were the Assyrians going to come against God's people a second time?
God used the prophet Nahum to assure them that Nineveh would be destroyed and that affliction or trouble will not come upon the people of Judah a second time.
Sometimes we tend to be afraid of the future and our minds get riddled with frightful questions:
"Will I lose my job again?"
"Will I be sick again after almost dying from a near deadly disease?"
"Is my child going to get into trouble again?"
"Am I going to have another financial crisis?"
I remember one particular day when I asked the Lord the same question after I had gone through extensive back surgery and a few years later, I faced the possibility of some more medical trauma. My question was, "Lord, will I have to be afflicted a second time?"
I experienced divine grace and intervention and God brought me healing without having to endure a very painful medical procedure. God encouraged me with the words, "Trouble will not come a second time."
Whatever fears you may have today, may the same encouraging words of scripture invade your heart and give you peace: "Trouble will not come a second time."
God is watching over you.

Father, Jesus said that in this world we will have troubles but we should be of good cheer because He has already overcome the world.
I commit all my fears and anxieties into your Mighty Hand today. I stand upon Your Word that whatever afflictions I have experienced in the past will not come on me a second time.
