God has His Eye On You

Now Sarai, Abraham’s wife had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The LORD has kept me from having children. Go sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her...He slept with Hagar and she conceived. When she saw that she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress.
… “Your slave is in your hands,” Abram said, “Do with her whatever you think best.”
Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.
The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert...then the angel of the LORD told her, go back to your mistress and submit to her. The angel of the LORD added, I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count…She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the LORD God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:2-13

When there is a need in our lives, it is easy for others to mock and maltreat us because they think we are helpless and without a future. Our natural tendency might be to take things into our own hands and retaliate by getting back at those people with every power at our means, That is what Sarai did. She maltreated Hagar until she fled from her. Little did she know that God was going to put laughter in her mouth fourteen years later through the birth of Isaac.
But Sarai was not the only recipient of divine blessings. We serve a God who dearly loves each of His children no matter how deficient our attitudes may be. As long as we remain obedient and do what He says, we will see His glory in our lives. Hagar misbehaved toward Sarai but God did not abandon her. She listened to God’s admonition to return and submit to Sarai and God blessed her in the process. She gave God the name El Roi, the God who sees me.
To every Sarai waiting on God for a miracle, God has an Isaac in store for you. It might take fourteen years but don’t give up. There is laughter on the way. You may have been in tearful frustration for years but your time is coming. Our God is able. Nothing is too hard for Him.
To every Hagar, and that includes perhaps everyone of us, God has not abandoned you. God sees you right in the desert where you are, abandoned and all alone. He has a bright future for you. Would you be obedient and listen to whatever God tells you to do? God has His eye on you. He will bless you exceedingly abundantly just as He did for Hagar. God has His eye on you. Lift up your eyes and see Him as your El Roi, the One who sees you right where you are. Listen to Him and do what He says. His blessings for you will be too numerous to count.

Prayer: LORD, I thank you that you see me right where I am. Even though I feel abandoned and frustrated sometimes, I declare today that you are my El Roi. I will listen to your voice in obedience; for your intended blessings for me are too numerous to count. Amen.
