God Has Given You Power and Authority

I pray that the eyes of your heart [understanding] may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. . . and appointed Him to be head over everything for the Church . . . Ephesians 1:18-22.
I am trying to picture the near frustration that Paul must have had as the Holy Spirit was using him to write these words to the Church. I can almost picture him agonizing and be saying: "Don't you get it? You are not a destitute people! You are a people of great power and authority! I want God to open your spiritual eyes and your spiritual understanding so that you can truly see and understand the power of God that is at work on behalf of God's children. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that is at work in your life as a child of God! There is no name and no authority higher than Jesus. Everything has been placed under the feet of Jesus for your benefit!"

Child of God, you must never see yourself as a destitute person! You are a person of power and authority because you belong to Jesus who has all power and all authority. Because you live and move and have your being in Jesus, the power that raised Jesus from the dead is mightily at work on your behalf.

In Luke 10:19, Jesus gives us the assurance that He has given us the power to overcome all the power of the enemy and nothing shall harm us. In Matthew 18:18, Jesus says, ". . . whatever you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  . . . if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven.  For where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I with them."

The question is: Do we really believe that we have that much power as children of God?
You see: The last thing Satan wants is for us to know and operate in the power we have as children of God! He does not want us to use the power we have through Christ to demolish his works and walk in victory. It is time to function in the power and authority you have as a child of God!

That is what God desires for us. So, He tells us in Isaiah 52:1-2
"Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again.
Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive."

The message is clear: We must arise and function in the power and authority we have as God's children. The enemy must no longer do as he pleases in any area of our lives. We are a people of power and authority. We should demolish every incursion of the enemy into any area of our lives.

Arise, child of God and break every chain the enemy has placed around you. Break the chain of marital problems; break the chain of addiction; break the chain of poverty; break the chain of unbelief and disobedience to the word of God; break the chain of hindrances to your blessings; Break every chain! You have the power and authority to do so!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for opening the eyes of my understanding to the authority that I have as your child. Help me to walk in that power and authority at all times. Amen
