These are wonderful verses that should bring peace and tranquility to every child of God.
I want to invite you to take a moment to meditate on what David is saying:
First, David describes his reality as a child of God: “The LORD is my strength and my shield.”
This is your intended reality as a child of God. The LORD wants you to be confident that He is your strength and your shield (protection) as you journey through life.
With that in mind, put your full trust in the LORD for He will help you in every situation. Let your heart leap with joy at the thought of this; and offer God a song of praise.
Be at peace today, no matter what you face because God will give you adequate strength and protection throughout the day.
Second, David offers a prayer: “Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.”
This is such a wonderful prayer to offer to God on behalf of God’s children.
We are precious to God because we are His inheritance. David is asking God to save us when we find ourselves in challenging situations. He is also asking the LORD to bless us, shepherd us, and carry us forever.
