Seek The Face of God

Seek The Face of God
Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
Be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Psalm 27:7-8, NIV.
David is uttering a prayer to God.
He is asking God to hear his voice, be merciful to him, and answer his prayer.
David is talking to God. David is pleading for mercy. But then, an interesting development seems to take place: In the course of David busily talking to God in prayer and pleading for mercy, David’s soul hears back from God, “Seek his face!” And then David responds, “Your face LORD, I will seek.” There is a divine prompting from God Himself, encouraging David to be bold in holding a conversation with God about his situation. God is saying, “I am all ears, so speak!”

This is rather interesting because it points to the readiness of God to listen and attend to our cries more than we imagine. Oftentimes, we approach God with doubts. We wonder if we are even deserving of God's attention. But we are being reminded here that God communicates with our soul and his message is, “Seek the face of God!” Our response in turn should be, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”

So, no matter what situation you encounter, have full confidence in seeking the face of the LORD about your situation. God is waiting expectantly and more than willing to intervene in your situation. So take time to seek the face of God.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the encouragement to seek your face. I confess that there have been many times when I have sought answers from all sorts of places but from you. Please help me to seek your face, knowing that you are willing to attend to my cry. Amen
