Have You Been With Jesus?

The next day the rulers, the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem...They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them:.. “It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.”...When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and took note that these men had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:5-13).
After healing the crippled man at the Beautiful gate, the religious leaders who were doing everything possible to stifle the name of Jesus, brought in the disciples to caution and intimidate them. But there was no denying what had happened, the lame man had been healed through the power of Jesus’ name. The resurrection of Jesus and the anointing of the Holy Spirit had completely emboldened and transformed the disciples. They had become unstoppable.
The authorities “took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

Until we have been with Jesus, we cannot effectively do things for Jesus. When we spend time with Jesus by communing with Him in prayer and through His word, it becomes evident. We become emboldened to stand up for Jesus. We are unafraid when confronted with stiff opposition. The Holy Spirit of God gives us the right words to speak in every situation. The anointing of the Holy Spirit fills us and directs us. People notice that there is something different and unusual about us. They take note that we have been with Jesus.

So question: Can people tell that you have been with Jesus? As you handle issues in your family, on the job, or with various individuals as a Christian, is there something noticeably different about you? Take time to be with Jesus, it will certainly transform your outlook and effectiveness.

Prayer: Lord, being with you makes all the difference. There are many things that distract me, but nothing is more important than being with you. So help me to guard my time so that I can spend time with you and do mighty exploits in your name. Amen.
