Devote Yourself to Spiritual Disciplines

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common...they broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47).
On the day of Pentecost, three thousand people were saved and added to the Church.
Question: How do you handle such a massive influx of people? I believe the answer is given above: “they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
The teaching of God’s word, fellowshipping corporately with other Believers in worship, the breaking of bread and praying are vital spiritual disciplines. These were the things that quickly gave strength and stability to the Church as many souls were added. Those spiritual disciplines created the environment for the Holy Spirit to move mightily with signs and wonders and continually cause the Church to grow.
The word of God is foundational to the life of a Believer. The word is a light unto our path and a lamp unto our feet. Corporate worship creates the environment for us to experience the Holy Spirit. God is enthroned in the praises of His children. Prayer causes God to move on our behalf. The Bible says the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective.
If we are to grow spiritually, it is imperative that we know and abide by the word, fellowship in worship and spend time in prayer. These spiritual disciplines are time consuming but they are worth every bit of time we spend. These are the things that will fortify us spiritually as we forge ahead to live for Jesus.
Let the Word, Worship, Fellowship and Prayer be a core part of your being.
These spiritual disciplines will cause you to grow by leaps and bounds.
