Wait In Expectation

Listen to my words, LORD,  consider my lament. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.  . . .
Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
(Psalm 5:1-3; 12)

There are points in time when we simply groan from the depths of our hearts to our God and King. There is a pleading from deep down in our soul. We cry out and implore our God to hear us.
But how do we wait after we cry out and present our requests to God? Do we wait in agony? Do we wait in hopelessness? Do we wait in faith?

The Psalmist gives us an inkling into how to wait after we cry out to God. We must wait in expectation! We must be confident that God will not ignore our cry for help. We must be expectant because God blesses the righteous and surrounds them with favor. There is something deeply refreshing about crying out to God first thing in the morning and going about our day with an expectant spirit. It tells God that we know He will take care of our situations. It tells Him that we know He will never let us down. Our God is good and very gracious.

May the LORD watch over you as you step out into your day. May He answer the deepest cry of your heart. May the face of the LORD shine upon you and give you peace.
Do not be anxious about your situation. Wait in expectation because our gracious God will hearken to your cry.

Prayer: Father, I wait in expectation for the unfolding of all the wonderful things you have in store for me today. Surround me with your favor, as with a shield. Amen.
