Sleep In Peace

Tremble and do not sin;
when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.
Many, LORD, are asking, "Who will bring us prosperity?"
Let the light of your face shine on us.
Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.
In peace I will lie down and sleep,
For you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:4-8).
This is a recipe for sound sleep:
A life that truly trembles at sin because of a genuine fear of God.
A heart that keeps silent before God at night to repent of any known sins.
A heart that trusts in God and is offered as a holy sacrifice to Him.
A heart that knows that God is the source of his prosperity.
A heart that knows that God alone is the source of his safety.

Before you go to bed tonight and even right now, would you take time to meditate on these words? Would you write them down and go over them intermittently throughout the day and especially before bedtime tonight?

It is amazing how much joy and peace floods our soul when we reflect over who God is in our lives. That was the secret of David's life and he is sharing it with us through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit!
Try it. You will sleep in peace.

Prayer: Father, please help me to truly remember all that you are to me. Help me to search my heart and shun evil. Help me to remember all your goodness and all your provision.
Help me to lie down in peace for that is your desire for me. Amen.
