The Closer the Victory, The Fiercer The Battle

Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey Him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go."
Then they said, "The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Now let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God, or He may strike us with plagues or with the sword."
But the king of Egypt said, "Moses and Aaron, why are you taking the people away from their labor?" . . .  That same day Pharaoh gave this order to the slave drivers and overseers in charge of the people: "You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw.  But require them to make the same number of bricks as before . . .  They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, 'Let us go and sacrifice to our God.'  Make the work harder for the people . . .  And Pharaoh's slave drivers beat the Israelite overseers . . ." Exodus 5:2-14

Are you surprised that when the battle gets fiercer, the closer you sense that victory is at hand?
It is normal for an opponent to pull out every trick in the book and muster every form of resistance the closer he senses defeat. Adversaries do not easily give up. They release their fiercest resistance and destructive attacks when they sense that their defeat is imminent.
The history of every major war attests to that.

Spiritual battles are no different. In fact, things on earth run parallel to things in the spirit realm.
The closer we get to our God-ordained victory and destiny, the more furious our Adversary becomes because he knows that our victory will further God's agenda. This will diminish the Enemy's reach and destructive influence. We see this clearly in Pharaoh's reaction when Moses and Aaron asked him to release the Hebrews to go and sacrifice to God. He said: "Make the work harder for the people" . . . And Pharaoh's slave drivers beat the Israelite overseers.

But you see, the truth is: Pharaoh did not know the power of our Almighty God. He said, "Who is the LORD that I should obey Him and let Israel go?  . . . I will not let Israel go."
Pharaoh did not know the God of the burning bush. He did not know the God who was about to turn the waters of the Nile into blood. He did not know the God who was about to bring total darkness and frogs upon Egypt. He did not know the God who was about to strike every Egyptian firstborn son dead. He did not know the God who was about to drown his horses and chariots in the Red Sea.

But you and I know this God. He is our Father. He is our Savior. He is our Lord and King.
So, when the battle gets fiercer, remember it could be because the Enemy is sensing that your victory is very close. The closer the victory, the fiercer the battle. Keep pressing on.
Prayer: Father, please give me the strength to keep pressing on. Amen.
