God Understands Our Humanity
Moses said to the LORD, "Pardon your servant, LORD. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."
The LORD said to him, "Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."
But Moses said, "Pardon your servant, LORD. Please send someone else."
Then the LORD's anger burned against Moses and He said, "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on His way to meet you, and He will be glad to see you. . . . I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him." Exodus 4:10-16

God is never authoritarian in His dealings with humanity. In spite of His omnipotence, omniscience and Sovereignty, there is always an astonishing element of humility and "reasonableness" when He deals with us!
Could it be because we are made in His image and a little "lower than God?" (Psalm 8:5 NLT) Could it be because "He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust?" (Psalm 103:14 NKJV) Or could it be simply because He just loves us and desires more than anything to have fellowship with us? After all, He proved His love by sending Jesus to die for us.
God had appeared to Moses in the burning bush and given him an assignment to go back and rescue his fellow Hebrews from slavery. He had given him assurances accompanied by signs and wonders to use in Egypt. Moses was so crippled with feelings of inadequacy that he made excuses: "I have never been eloquent . . . I am slow of speech and tongue."
God was angry but the anger lasted only for a moment. Even as Moses was "ignorantly" complaining, God had already set the solution in motion. He had arranged for Aaron to complement his weakness of speech. God understood the humanity of Moses.
God is humble enough to listen to our excuses and complaints. He is not pleased with them, but He does not destroy us because we express our fears. The key thing is for us to understand that He has already made provision to complement every form of weakness we may have. Don't dwell on your weaknesses. Dwell on the provision God has already made to help you succeed.
God understands our humanity. He will never leave you without help.

Prayer: God of compassion and God of love, I thank you that you always look beyond my inadequacies and complement my weaknesses with your divine provision. Thank you Father.
