You Have A Victory Song Ahead
The King rejoices in your strength, LORD. How great is his joy in the victories you give!
You have granted him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.
You came to bless (greet) him with rich blessings and placed a crown of gold on his head.
He asked you for life, and you gave it to him -- length of days, forever and ever. . . . Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken. (Psalm 21:1-7)

When you go through the "Valley of the Shadow of Death", it is difficult to imagine or envision any victory ahead. Your mind is riddled with doubts and questions and you are tempted to focus solely on the pain of your circumstances.
After his anointing to become king, but before ascending to the throne, David went through "hell." He literally had to hide in caves to protect his life. He depended on "odd jobs" and raids to feed himself and his family. Then he became king with all the power and authority to get whatever he desired. He had a well trained army with chariots and horses to fight his battles (Psalm 20).
So was David going to be independent from God and be his own source of sustenance? Was David going to trust in his numerous horses and chariots?
Absolutely not! David continued to rejoice in the strength of His God and to rejoice in the victories given by God. He continued to trust in God not in his horses and chariots.
In Psalm 20, David cried out to God for help and here in Psalm 21, he is praising God for victory. David sang a victory song.
Stand firm on the promises of God; you have a victory song ahead.

Prayer: LORD, my hope and strength is in you. Even though I walk through the "Valley of the Shadow of Death", I will fear no evil because I know you are with me. I am confident that I will soon sing my victory song. I pray this in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
