God Will Part Your Jordan

And the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: "When you reach the edge of the Jordan's waters, go and stand in the river.' "    . . . "And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD -- the LORD of all the earth -- set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap."
. . . Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away . . . while the water flowing down to the Sea of Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.  . . .until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.

Joshua 3:7-17

We often talk about God's miraculous parting of the Red Sea but hardly about the parting of the Jordan River. The two partings served two different purposes. The Red Sea was parted to redeem God's people out of the bondage of Egyptian slavery. The Jordan was parted to enable God's children to enter the Promised Land.

There are many lessons to chew on:
First, God exalted Joshua at the appointed time: "Today, I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel."  The Bible makes it clear that exaltation comes from God. Joshua had humbly and faithfully served Moses for decades before God gave him the leadership after the death of Moses. At the appointed time on the divine calendar, God decided to exalt him in the eyes of all the people. As you faithfully serve the LORD, may He exalt you at His appointed time. May God announce you to the world for all to see that He is with you.  Be patient and humble. It will come.

Second: The waters of the Jordan parted as soon as the feet of the priests, who carried the ark, touched the edge of the Jordan River. The ark was the Presence of God. The Presence of God is the power of God's Holy Spirit at work. You and I carry the Presence of God because the Holy Spirit of God dwells in us.
May every Jordan in your life be parted by the power of God's Spirit living within you.

Finally: The miraculous parting of the Red Sea was not the last time God was going to part waters. It was followed by the parting of the Jordan. May God redeem you out of every bondage by parting your Red Sea and taking you out of the Enemy's territory, and may He part every Jordan in your life so you can enter and possess your Promised Land. God will part your Jordan.
May the parting of waters never cease in your life until you accomplish your divine destiny.

Prayer: Father, I thank you that you have the power to part any waters impeding the possession of my Promised Land. I am confident that you will do so for me. Amen.
