The Lord Is Always With You

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
. . . For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand -- when I awake, I am still with you.     Psalm 139:7-18

Do you ever doubt if God is close by you? Do you ever wonder what God thinks about you? Do you ever wonder whether God really knows what you are going through in life? Do you really know how valuable and wonderful you are to God? Does it ever occur to you that you are God's Masterpiece regardless of how you see yourself or how you feel?

So how about if you started seeing yourself the way God sees you? How about if you started seeing yourself as a true Masterpiece from God? How about if you really came to understand the depth of God's love for you and the vastness of His precious plans for your life? Would it change your self esteem and perception in life? Would it give you new confidence and boldness? Would it melt away your depressive thoughts? Would it give you new energy for life?

I believe KIng David must have been going through some soul searching when he wrote this Psalm. He must have been wondering if God was truly close by and whether God even thought about him and his situation. He allowed the Spirit of God to open the eyes of his understanding and then he declared: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful...how precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them. Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand -- when I awake, I am still with you." David realized that he was very precious to God and that God was with him.

Don't bow down and bury your head in melancholy! You are precious to God, your circumstances notwithstanding. Take hold of the real truth! God is right by your side. God knows every occurrence of everyday of your life before it even comes to be. He is never surprised by the events of your life. He knows it all and He has already prepared the solution for you. His thoughts for you are precious and more numerous than you can count. So take heart. God is close by you. Take pride in who you are and whose you are.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for your indescribable love for me. Amen.
