God Can Save By Many Or By Few

One day, Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father…
Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few.”
“Do all you have in mind,” his armor-bearer said, “Go ahead, I am with you heart and soul.”...
Jonathan climbed up, using his hands and feet, with his armor-bearer right behind him.
The Philistines fell before Jonathan and his armor-bearer followed behind and killed  them... Then panic struck the whole army - those in the camp and field...and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God…
Then Saul and all his men assembled and went to the battle. They found the Philistines in total confusion, striking each other with their swords…
So on that day, the LORD saved Israel…
  I Samuel 14:1-23.
Israel was faced with a desperate situation. The oppression from the Philistines was so strong that only king Saul and his son Jonathan had swords and spears when the Philistines raided Israel. No other soldier had any implement of war to fight with. But out of desperation comes overcoming faith. Jonathan mustered courage in that despairing situation and he secretly sneaked out to put his faith to the test.

Jonathan convinced his armor-bearer that God had the power to save either by few or many so it was possible for the two of them to be used by God to save the entire nation of Israel. God honored his step of faith by shaking the grounds in the Philistine camp and creating panic. The pandemonium caused the Philistines to turn their swords on themselves. The LORD used just two people, Jonathan and his armor-bearer to initiate the salvation of Israel.

Surely, nothing can limit the power of God from saving His people. All God needs is just a few people who would believe in His power and step out in faith.

Question: Do you feel overwhelmed and outnumbered by the forces you are facing? Don’t be afraid. Step out in faith and watch God work on your behalf. When you attach your impotence and inadequacy to the adequacy and omnipotence of God, you become unstoppable. God will turn you from minority to majority because the invisible hosts of heaven will be deployed to fight for you.
When God is with you, you are always in the majority even when outnumbered in the natural.
God can save by many or by few.

Prayer: Lord, with you on my side, I will never be outnumbered by the enemy. Please help me to internalize this truth at all times so that I can always press on in total confidence. Amen.
