Wanted: Faithful People To Advance The Cause

When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, he made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel, as the LORD had promised through Samuel.
. . . These were the chiefs of David's mighty warriors -- they, together with all Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the LORD had promised. . .
Jashobeam, a Hakmonite, was chief of the officers; he raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai. . . He was with David at Pas Dammim when the Philistines gathered there for battle. At a place where there was a field full of barley, the troops fled from the Philistines. But they took their stand in the middle of the field. They defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory.
1 Chronicles 11:3-14

No vision, dream or agenda can ever be fulfilled without the hard work and support of faithful and dedicated individuals who sacrificially rally around the cause. The greatest example is the case of our Lord Jesus Himself. He chose the twelve disciples, trained them for three years and released them to carry out God's kingdom agenda. At the cost of their lives, they spread the Gospel because they were totally sold out on the cause of Christ. They were faithful men.

Perhaps, the greatest sacrifice was made by the Apostle Paul whose suffering and sacrifice is simply mind-boggling. He was constantly beaten and hated but he pressed on to spread the Gospel. He travelled thousands of miles on foot for the Gospel because he believed in the cause of Christ. Paul's passion, focus and dedication was unsurpassed.

David had been chosen by God to rule His people and to set up Israel as a shining example of the rulership of God on earth through His chosen people. David could not advance the agenda all by himself. He needed faithful men to help the cause. The Scripture summarizes it so well: "These were the chiefs of David's mighty warriors -- they, together with all Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the LORD had promised." God had promised, but faithful people were needed to work out the promise into reality. The support of faithful people made it possible for David to accomplish what God had already decreed. Without them, the vision could not have been accomplished.

Would you take a moment to reflect over your call and role in God's kingdom? Could it be that you are one of the mighty warriors called to help establish the vision God has given to your church or ministry? Could it be that you are meant to be an invaluable resource right where you are today? God needs faithful people who are willing to give their all to the cause of Christ. Could you be one of them? Have you taken your position and role? Think about it.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the privilege to serve You. I pray that You will help me to fulfill all my responsibilities with great love and passion. Help me to be faithful to Your cause. Amen.
